Startup project, moving box rental
Cangubox
A startup project: rigid reusable boxes rented to people moving house in Milan, from the brand and the site to the system that keeps the service running.
What it had to do
- Let people actually book: package, dates and addresses chosen and confirmed online, instead of sending an enquiry and waiting for a call back.
- Say straight away whether the service reaches where the reader lives. A rental with home delivery lives or dies on the area it covers, and finding that out at the end of a form wastes everybody’s time.
- Carry the operational side without spreadsheets: the same boxes go out, come back, are cleaned and go out again.
- Open a second channel beyond the person moving house, towards those who meet them first: estate agents, removal firms, property managers.
What I did
- Brand, website and tone of voice from scratch: name, logo, colours, product photography and copy.
- A five-step booking flow, from package to extras, with the summary and total updating as you choose rather than appearing at the end.
- A postcode coverage check on the very first screen, before asking for any other detail.
- A back office for running the whole service, the part you do not see from the site: it is what holds bookings, deliveries and collections together.
- A customer area for people who have booked, and WhatsApp support inside the booking flow, where the questions come up.
- A partner section with two ways to work together, and a franchising route for anyone wanting to open their own area.
- Dedicated pages for Milan and for Monza e Brianza, plus a blog and an FAQ: the service is searched for by city, and everyone arrives with the same five questions.
How it changed
The home pageThe postcode field is the first thing after the headline: people outside the area find out immediately, and those inside go straight into booking. 
How it worksThree steps and no jargon. The service is new to almost everyone, so the page explains what happens before it talks about price. 
BookingFive steps with the total always in view. Prices are the ones at the time of the capture: they change, which is why you read them on the site. 
The partner channelAgents, removal firms and property managers meet people moving house before I do. They are asked for no warehouse and no logistics: delivery, collection and support stay with Cangubox.
